Easy DIY Pumpkin Caterpillar

Like I said in my home decor post, my house is getting Pumpkin ERRAYTHANG! I’m excited to share this easy to make Fall Craft, Pumpkin Caterpillar.

Step 1: Get Pumpkins! I decided to use Ironsides. They’re simple to paint and will help give the caterpillar the classic round shape. These pumpkins are from the Pick’n Patch in Stanley, NY.

Step 2: Pick the very best pumpkins. I suggest 3 similar in size and then 1 a little bit larger for the head.Perfect Ironsides for Caterpillar Craft

Step 3: Paint your pumpkins. I went with a green, but your caterpillar can be whatever color your heart desires. I think purple would be a awesome – if you make a purple one, please share!

Step 4: Now decorate! This can be polka-dots, antennas, eyes, mouth, whatever makes your pumpkin caterpillar happy!

Step 5: Share with me 🙂 Tweet (@yellowdogpinkpi), or tag me on instagram (@yellowdogpinkpig)

I love painting pumpkins because they last so much longer than if you carve them. The caterpillar is also fun to move around and make other shapes! The kido’s love playing with them!

Simple DIY Nursery Mobile

I have to give credit where credit is due and the ladies over at Merely Mothers NAILED IT with the tutorial on how to build a paper mobile! I suggest taking a look at it. I also noticed they are offering kits at their Etsy store, again, genius!

I fell in love with her mobile as soon as I spotted it on pinterest and knew I had to make it. I was lucky enough to hit Michael’s on a day when their paper was on sale – SCORE! I then used a coupon to purchase the circle punch (2 1/2 inch). I went bigger than Merely Mothers because, well to be honest, I’m lazy and didn’t want to do as many. 😛

I didn’t use a standard pack of colors as she did, so I bought three different packs from Michaels. I used the packs of paper linked here. As I said, they were on sale at the time, so no biggie!LOTSofCircles

Then I thread these little circles and put them on the rings! This took longer than I was expecting so I skipped covering the rings and went right to the room to hang up!

Love it! Makes me smile each time. Love how it fills this little space too. Have you completed a project like this? I’d love to see – share a link or comment below!

I’ll also be sharing the other portions of the nursery, so check back soon! Click here to see easy and cheap wall art!

Trunk to Table

Found this beauty at a flea market.

Trunk to Table - DIY project by Yellow Dog Pink Pig

She has a ton of potential! After a quick pinterest search, I decided to follow Fat Bird’s advice to paint and add legs. I suggest looking at that beaut! She did a fantastic job.

I decided to go with a classic white trunk.

This trunk took a couple coats, which meant a couple of cans of spray paint.

The #YellowDog came decided he wanted to help with this project. Thanks, Bud!

Adding the final touches….

LOVE THIS! What have you up-cycled recently? Go ahead and share – brag a little 🙂
